3/21/2024 0 Comments Slime rancher 2 switch price![]() This however also means that a lot of depth, unlocks, upgrades, and automation through drones is completely missing. So other than the value you get for your money, what problems are there? The current version of the game is stripped of the first parts endgame, which is understandable. I'm a pretty efficient player, but my amount of playtime is all i could get out of the game for now, which makes it a rather bad ratio of price for hours spent. While we got a new world, i do hope it still grows in the future. It is a beautiful reskin, and an entire new world to explore however, so that alone makes it worthwhile! For what it is currently, the price is very steep tho. Slime Rancher 2 is basically a reskin of the first part, with most of its content stripped. Since the overwhelming majority of reviews is based on hype and a loyal fanbase however, i will have to give it a thumbs down for now, so people, or the devs, can get a bit more objective feedback. It's Slime Rancher, which in itself basically makes it a good game. Wait for this game to fully release to buy it, and even then, be cautious and read up to see if the lack of content has been fixed. If you already own Slime Rancher 1, play that. For this game being over a year into it's early access, it feels like abandonware, the game feeling like a shell of Slime Rancher 1. The only impact the NPCs from Slime Rancher 1 have on this game is occasionally calling you and giving you a blueprint or a lame decoration. You may be asking yourself why I haven't mentioned any of the mini-games or quests found in Slime Rancher 1. Ultimately, this leads to the main gameplay loop being: Leave to gather materials > Come home > Spend 30 minutes to an hour cleaning up plorts and feeding slimes > Rinse and repeat. No automation for resource gathering or storage. No automation for plort collection, sale, or storage. In addition to money being near useless if you aren't literally within the first 3 hours of your save, there are ZERO methods of automation for anything found in game. No 7Zee rewards, No toys, and the decorations available are way lamer than Slime Rancher 1, just being trees and rocks you would find on other islands. While this may sound like a good thing, there is absolutely nothing to spend your money on. it will usually take 30 minutes to an hour to clear your ranch of excess plorts. When you eventually come home to deposit/use your materials, you'll find that there are way too many plorts to deal with. While you're gone, your slimes will produce endless plorts, too many for one person to handle. In order to go get these materials, you'll need to venture far across the islands and hope and pray they decided to spawn that day. However, materials are locked behind timed resource deposits, resetting every 1-2 days, with some spawns not even being guaranteed. Much like the gadgets in slime rancher 1, the upgrades are crafted using materials and plorts. This game has a much different upgrade system than Slime Rancher 1 which in theory is an improvement, but in execution leaves fatal flaws that are very easily noticed. Wait for the full release or buy Slime Rancher 1. TL DR: Fun for a while, until you realize its a grind fest with a lack of content beyond base Slime Rancher. It likely will get better, but if I could go back in time to when I purchased this game, I would absolutely hold off on buying for another two years. I'm not ordinarily one to bash small studio games like this, but communication from the team was nonexistent for all of 2023, and I feel the current review ratio does not aptly articulate the state the game is in at the moment. The graphics are "prettier," but besides that, it truly just feels like unfinished DLC for the first game rather than it's own identity. ![]() There are a few new slimes, new areas, but all the gameplay mechanics have yet to be improved upon in any way. My trust in the development team is wavering, and I fear it could be several years before the game is at a state where the price justifies the content. It's disheartening that after around 6 months of radio silence, the game got an update consisting of just a weather system, and two slimes from the first game. While I am sure the finished product, whenever that ends up being released, is going to be a wonderful experience, I am currently experiencing a lot of buyers remorse and would still opt to play the first game over this by a landslide. We are over a year in and there have been updates fewer and farther between than the first game. With that out of the way, I would like to warn that the game is truly not in a state to justify it's current price tag. ![]() I would like to preface this by saying one thing: If you enjoyed SR1, you will probably enjoy SR2.
